Total course cost for a typical* 3-credit Winter Session 2018 course:
Winter Session courses are charged per credit at the in-state rate for all students.

*Typical = no special materials or late fees.

Fees for Winter Session 2018

The total cost of attending Winter Session includes both course (per-credit) fees and other mandatory fees, including the non-refundable enrollment fee. Some courses, including all online courses, have additional required fees.  See the following table for fee descriptions and terms.

$500 per credit for all undergraduate courses
$806 per credit for all graduate courses
Course fees are calculated per credit for all students at the in-state rate and apply to all courses. The per-credit rate is determined by the level (undergraduate or graduate) of the course.

Examples:
Course fees for a 3-credit undergraduate course = $1500.
Course fees for a 3-credit graduate course = $2418.

Enrollment Fee
Required fee (non-refundable).
$45 for UConn Students;
$65 for non-UConn students
Applies to all courses. You will be charged the enrollment fee one time per Winter session, no matter how many courses you take.
This fee is non-refundable once you register for any course.
Technology Fee
Required fee.
$30 Applies to all courses.  You will be charged the technology fee only once, regardless of how many courses you take.
Online Course Fee
Required for all online courses in addition to other required fees.
$20/credit Applies to online courses only.  Students in online courses are charged an additional online course fee based on the number of credit-hours they are taking online. (Example: for a typical 3-credit online course, a student will pay a $60 online course fee in addition to course and other required fees.)
Materials Fee
Required only for select courses (see details at right)
$10-$95 Applies to only a few classes; see Bursar fees statement for any extra Materials fees.
Late Fee* $150 Charged when full payment has not been received by the payment due date.

*Students who register after the payment due date for a given session will have three days from the date they register to submit their payment before the $150 late fee applies.

Note: Payment for any registration that takes place after the Payment Due date will be due 3 days from the date of registration.


Adding and Dropping Classes
All add/drop requests received by December 28, 2017 will result in a full refund minus the non-refundable registration fee. Classes dropped after December 28, 2017 will not be eligible for a course refund.

To add/drop courses:

  • Current UConn students may self-register (add/drop) for classes through their Student Admin accounts until December 28, 2017.
  • Visiting/NonDegree students:  Registration is a 2-step process for Visiting students: Application and Registration (Opens October 23rd). Click here for registration details. Once you receive your confirmation email and receive access to the Student Administration System , you will search for and register (add/drop) for courses. Course drop requests after December 28th may be submitted to the Registrar’s Office by emailing them at registrar@uconn.edu, but no refunds will be issued for drops after that date.
  • For all students: To receive a full refund (minus the registration fee) for a course, non-degree/visiting students must request by the December 28, 2017 deadline. Please note that no refunds are given for classes dropped after December 28, 2017.


Winter Session Calendar

The dates for Winter Session classes including the final exam day are Tuesday, December 26, 2017, through Friday, January 12, 2018. Please note the following calendar which contains important information about holidays, make-up days, and the date. Please note that, if made necessary by weather or other conditions, make-up days may be required to ensure that courses meet minimum requirements for class contact hours.
